2019 Honda Civic vs Mazda3

The Honda Civic vs. Mazda3 has always been a competition that has excited drivers in Santa Ana, Tustin, and Rancho Santa Margarita due to their sleek body styles, their strong and efficient performances, and of course, their bevy of sophisticated features. However, the new generations of these vehicles seem to stir the pot a little bit, so at Norm Reeves Honda Superstore Irvine, we’re going to take a look.

We’ll be doing a 2019 Honda Civic vs. Mazda3 preview to see how these vehicles measure up this year.

2019 Civic vs Mazda3 Varying Body Styles

The new Honda Civic and Mazda3 each offer a few different styles to accommodate different types of drivers. Each vehicle offers a sleek and compact sedan with alluring curves, defined edges, and prolific front fascia. Both vehicles even come in hatchback form, which, unlike most models in this style, still retain a sleek appearance while offering their driver and passengers a bit more space.

However, the main difference is that the Honda Civic also comes as a coupe, with an even sleeker body style with a smooth cascading cabin. The Mazda3 only offers the two body styles.

Engine Options & Performance

Both vehicles offer a few engine options to appease different levels of drivers. The Civic offers the standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, which showcases an impressive mix of both power and efficiency. The 2019 Mazda3 is expected to include a 2.0-liter as its base level outing, but its next engine up is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder. It doesn’t seem like much of an improvement since the Civic offers an optional 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a turbocharger, which is set to increase the output while remaining fuel-efficient.

Features & Technology

The Mazda3 and Honda Civic each include a variety of fun and sophisticated features within their respective cabins. Each sedan includes intuitive touchscreens that drivers can use to select their media for the ride. Both sedans include Bluetooth®-pairing for hands-free phone use and audio streaming, as well as USB and auxiliary inputs for portable media devices.

The Civic offers the available Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, which syncs your smartphone into the dashboard-mounted touchscreen. This allows you to access your phone’s apps, contacts, and libraries right from the display screen. The previous-year Mazda3 didn’t offer these features even at the highest trim levels, so we’ll see if the 2019 will include these necessary features.
